Book of Sun Slot

book of sun slot

Book of Sun slot is basically an Egyptian themed clone of Book of Ra and Book of Dead, functioning in exactly the same manner, that being you want to land 3 Scatter Symbols, or Books, to get to the free spins bonus which will reveal a special symbol that will expand when they appear. Book of Sun is a high volatility slot with an RTP of 95.31%. It has 5 reels with 10 paylines and was released by Booongo in November 2018. Stakes range from 20 cents up to $30 per spin which might not make it suitable for some higher rolling slot players but it still provides a good range to cover most players. Overall Impression

Book of Sun slot is simply a reskin of a slot which has been done 100x before and been done a lot better. However, it is still a very fun game to play, the bonus round with expanding symbols has proven to be a phenomenally popular feature and having played numerous book of games myself, i find that i keep coming back to them as they are simply great fun to play.Book of Sun is no exception to this. The problem is that it has a low RTP of just 95.31% and the free spins bonus only gives a max win of 1000x, making the payouts overall smaller than I would prefer. If you’re in the USA looking for a Book of type slot to play and have restricted access to the like of Book of Ra and Book of Dead then certainly try this out, you’ll likely really enjoy it. However, for other players i would suggest sticking with the slots mentioned above for a better experience than the Book of Sun slot can offer.

Free Spins Bonus

To get the free spins round into play you will need to land 3 or more Book Symbols, these are the Scatter symbols. Once you manage this the book will then open to reveal a symbol which will be allocated as your expanding symbol. The symbol can be anything except for the Scatter.

If you get one of the playing card symbols Ace, King, Queen, Jack or 10 then you’ll need to land 3 of them so that they expand to cover all lines, when they do this you’ll get the total win of all the lines combined. Premium symbols like Horus and Tutankhamun only need to show up twice to expand and for you to get the wins on a corresponding lines.

The free spins bonus will initially give you 12 free spins but you can retrigger it to get a further 12 by landing in 3 or more book symbols again. There doesn’t appear to be a limit on the amount of retriggers available.

How Does It Pay?

Like most “book of slots” it has a reasonable maximum win. Here it is 1000x which you’ll get if you land a full screen of Tutankhamun symbols in the free spins round. A single line of this symbol will also pay 100x. This is isn’t as good as the Book of Dead or Book of Ra which have 5,000x as the maximum win.

This in itself is a bit of a disappointment as one of the main draws of the “Book of” type games is that a big maximum win is possible. However, with Book of Sun it simply isn’t and you would hope that the free spins bonus would show up a lot more than it does. This is probably explained by the low RTP which compared with Book of Dead (96.21%) isn’t that great, however it still beats the latest Book of Ra 6 Deluxe which has a very shabby 94.26%!

Graphics and Sound

You will find your typical ancient Egyptian sounding music playing, which is very similar to Book of Dead whilst the sound effects add a little excitement, picking up as the bonus lands in with it’s 3 books. Book of Sun looks ok but not great, however it does the job perfectly well enough and gives the right ancient Egyptian feel to things. It is set on the background of a temple with 2 giant columns flanking it and behind you can just about make out the Pyramids and the hazy blue skies.

Symbols include the lower valued playing cards, then the top symbol is Tutankhamun followed by the bird headed Horus, then a Scarab and finally a golden and blue bird statue.
